18th anniversary / charte de l’unité

Today the 5th of February2009, Burundians commemorated the 18th anniversary of the unity charter. The day is celebrated under the theme: Unity is the foundation of peace, security , democracy, and development. Dr Yves Sahinguvu, the 1st deputy president who represented the Head of state at ceremonies asked all the Burundian people to show unity by assisting the population of Kirundo threatened by hunger.

Remise et reprise minirelations

The hand over ceremony took place today between Antoinette Batumubwira, the outgoing minister for foreign affairs and the incoming minister Augustin Nsanze. Among the main issues left to minister Nsanze include talks with some states in which illegally stay Burundian communities in a bit to let them come back home in dignity. As far as the operation of expelling the irregurar foreigners from the country is concerned, the incoming minister indicated that he will discuss upon it with the involved ministries.

The first deputy president, Yves Sahinguvu today received in audience the outgoing head of delegation of the Red Cross International Committee Mrs. Marianne Gasser who came to introduce to the first vice president, the incoming chief of delegation Mrs. Alessandra Menegonto.
Marianne Gasser appreciates the good collaboration the Red Cross International Committee has had with the Government of Bdi during the two years for which lasts her mission.
